A licensed CPA-Lawyer, Mr. Luis Jose P. Ferrer is a senior counsel of Carag Zaballero Llamado & Abiera Law Offices. He has extensive experience in taxation with specialization in handling tax controversy and tax advisory. He has advised clients, both foreign and domestic entities, on various tax matters. He represents clients with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, local government units, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Board of Investments, Department of Finance and other government agencies in relation to various tax issues and regulatory matters.
Being a tax expert, Mr. Ferrer is also a resource speaker in various tax seminars, including that of the PICPA-Tax Committee and PCCI-Tax Committee. He is also invited as resource person in public hearings of the Committee of Ways and Means of the House of Representatives and the Senate on proposed tax bills.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Ferrer was a Tax Partner and Head of Tax Services of a reputable accounting firm based in Makati.
He also previously worked with the National Power Corporation, the Court of Tax Appeals, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the Republic Planters Bank (now Maybank Philippines, Inc.).
Mr. Ferrer’s professional affiliations include the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry– Tax Committee. Mr. Ferrer is presently a trustee of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals. He is also currently teaching taxation law at the College of Law of the University of the Philippines.
